System Geography

This three-day course explores roles, paradox and diversity in relationship. It deals with the semi-permanent structures of relationship: roles and cultural influences. To coach systems geography is to work creatively with Outer Roles™ (job functions of the relationship), Inner Roles™ (emotional functioning of the relationship), Secret Roles (sub-personalities that can be triggered), and Ghost Roles (invisible presences impacting the relationship, such as the ghost of the “ex.”).

In this course you will also explore the impact of cultural and external influences on the relationship system. You will practice skills that free a greater range of relationship expression, promote an appreciation of differences, and support alignment in the face of disagreement. Using “geography” and conscious choice, you’ll explore “My Land, Your Land, Our Land™.”

As a result of taking this course all participants will:

  • Understand the function of relationship structures such as outer and inner roles for providing stability to business and personal relationships.
  • Recognize the need for periodic change in these structures in order to avoid “role nausea” and role rigidity over time. You will also have the coaching tools necessary to assist relationships in reviewing and updating roles.
  • Have a concrete model and tools for working with diversity issues in both organizational and personal settings (My Land, Your Land, Our Land). You will have the opportunity to practice these tools in an organizational vignette.
  • You will also have the coaching tools necessary to assist those in relationships to review and update roles.
